Originally from Chandigarh, she graduated from Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, Pune, Maharashtra and went on to complete a Masters Degree in Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospital, and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Following her higher surgical training in Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospital, she did short term training in squint at Dr RP Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi under the expert guidance of Dr. Pradeep Sharma. She completed a Long term Clinical fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology, Squint & Neuro- ophthalmology at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India in 2008. Thereafter, she underwent Clinical Observership in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Department of Ophthalmic and Visual Sciences, University of Arizona, Tucson, USA under the guidance of Dr. J Miller.

Through her training and research, she has authored many scientific papers in peer- reviewed National and International Ophthalmology journals. She is actively involved in clinical research and regularly presents scientific papers at national & international ophthalmology meetings.

She has special interest and expertise in Children Eye disorders, Ocular Motility disorders and Squint. Her areas of specialization include Paediatric Cataract Surgery, Amblyopia (Lazy eye), Strabismus (Squint), Nystagmus, Ptosis(Eyelid Drooping), Eye Allergy, Paediatric Glaucoma and Neuro- ophthalmological disorders.
